6,000+

We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of the love of family, friends and complete strangers. Yesterday alone, our visitor calculator was off the charts with 6,000+ visitors! Our son's story is touching the hearts of many people and we are confident that God is using Luke to bring glory to His name!

Keep praying folks. Luke had a rough morning with a lot of fluid build up and were told a couple times that his chances do not look good. However, after Kristin and I went to the hotel to cry, pray, clean up and gather our thoughts, we returned to the hospital to find out that he is much more stable now and that he is doing as well as can be expected.

We are told this is how most of the weekend will probably go and then starting Monday morning they will see how well his heart and lungs will function after turning down the ECMO.

Were are holding strong to God's promise that 'Nothing is impossible with God!' -Luke 1:37

Stop by late tonight or tomorrow morning to see pictures of Luke!

  3. I ran across your blog from a friend. I know another heart baby mom and she posted your story on the facebook page 1in100. You can see it here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/1in100?ref=ts. You might be able to meet other parents that have gone through similar issues and find support on that page if you want that. Thanks for the updates!

  4. Dear Kristin and Benson,

Though you all have no idea of who I am, I wanted to let you know that I am praying for precious Luke and you all.

I hope that our story (My husband and I) will give you hope. Upon trying to get pregnant through IVF 5 times and 3 miscarriages we finally got preganant with triplets. We lost one early in the pregnancy. I went into labor at 20 weeks and our miracles were born at 23 weeks gestation. Much like you all with different circumstances, we were told they only had a 20% chance of surviving. Needless to say our world was ROCKED and turned upside down. After 4 months in the NICU and a few surgeries, they are finally home with us.

I can not imagine the rollercoaster that you are on right now. We were there for 4 months. You have to take things one hour at a time.

The main reason I wanted to share this with you all is because God does perform miracles!!! He is with little Luke all the way. Try to stay strong and pray a lot and God will help you get through this rough time.

Just a note, my husband had a very hard time with it and so did I, however the main thing that we learned was, we are NOT in control. Its all in Gods hands.

I hope and pray this post will give you the hope that little Luke is a STRONG little thing and he is fighting with all his might.

Much Love to you all and Luke. God Bless

  5. Benson,
I just wanted you to know how much you all are in my prayers. I have kept up everyday with Luke's story. It has truly touched my heart. Reading about all of his journey has not only touched my heart, but has brought me much closer to God and has inspired me to be a better person, as I'm sure it has many people. Always remember that "God is our refuge and strength, a very plesent help in times of trouble. -Psalm 46:1". Your family means so much to me and my family and we only hope for the best. And when your feeling down, remember a wise quote: "A man can't turn tail and run just because a little personal risk is involved." - Harold Hill =D
    Love you all lots!

  8. Went to bed the last few nights praying, woke up praying, praying in the middle of the night, when I am taking a walk, when I am sitting watching my little ones play... constantly I'm in prayer for the three of you. Your story and situation has made me go to my Lord for other things in my life as well that normally I wouldn't think mattered. Luke is an inspiration to us all and you guys are the perfect parents already! Bless you and stay strong!!!

  10. Oh Kristin! I had no idea you'd given birth I did however know that the baby was going to have some sort of heart condition I just had no idea it would be to this extent! I am so thankful you and Benson have such strong faith in the Lord he works in such wonderful ways and I just know He is 100% with you all and of course Luke and his doctors. You all will be at the top of our prayer list and I will be reading each post from now on to keep up with the status of him. I pray that God will give you each a new found strength and clear head to keep pushing forward in the battle for your son's life! I love you dearly! Mindy

  14. My prayers are with Luke and you two. A friend sent us the link to your blog yesterday. Our son had his Norwood in March at UK and I don't think anything can really prepare you for this but the knowing beforehand at least helped us to prepare as it did you to the extent it did. The only thing I can tell you is that from everyone I've talked to including us, the first few days after the Norwood even in the best of cases are a roller coaster with more downs than ups.

    Keep your faith.

  19. I have read your story and want you to know that you and your son are in my prayers. I have some idea of what you are going through. My son also went thru heart surgery as a matter of fact the surgeon that did your sons surgery did my sons as well. The nurses and doctors there at the hospital are absolutely wonderful people. He was 3 years old when he had it done. My son is now a healthy 15 year old boy that is over 6 feet tall and is into every sport imaginable. He is living proof that prayers are answered. So keep praying and may god bless you. I will keep the 3 of you in my prayers.

  20. My kids went to LWC, and I have heard them talking about how much Luke needs prayer. I have been praying. I know that it has to be God, who has given you the strenght to go thru all that you as parents, grandparents, relatives and friends are going thru. The rollercoaster of the ups and downs, I am sure that God has all in control. As parents, we have to sometimes question why do these things happen to our loved ones..esp a baby. There must be a reason, and as you said in one of your blogs sometimes when we ask God to use us it is sometimes something we would never be prepared for. Guys, please know there are people praying all over for your little Luke. I know from what I have heard that He is the talk of the hopsital, and people are feeling a great power of God in Kosair at this time. God has a plan, Believe in him. My love and prayers go out to you.

  21. What a beautiful little boy Luke is. The pictures of him that you have shared have made me fall totally in love with that wonderful little boy. He is such a fighter and we are praying without ceasing for his healing. God IS in control and by His stripes WE ARE HEALED. Dear Heavenly Father, touch sweet Luke and breathe healing into his little body. We give you all praise and glory for what you are going to do and have already done in this precious new life. Thank you for your word that gives us the confidence to know we can ask you for healing because your word tells us we can and you will hear us and answer our prayers. You can only answer yes and amen when we pray your promises Lord. In Jesus' Holy name we pray--AMEN.

  22. dEAR lORD IN HEAVEN,
I myself have often prayed to have a child but you gave me stepchildren instead and thats ok for i love them and have learned what you wanted from me. I do not understand all of your ways and I am sure you definately wonder about mine but I do not ask this for myself I ask this for one of the little ones of your flock, you said where there are 2 or more gathered together ask and it shall be recieved well Lord I am claiming that miracle for baby Luke I do not know this mother nor this father but I know that it would be even harder to have been given a child then see it have to go thru what baby luke is going thru so i also ask that you gird them with faith hope and perserverence beyond measure and may their load be lightened by your almighty hand may we always fully rely on you God and know that by following this story that I have realised my life could be much worse and filled with much more uncertainty so if that is what you are waiting on Lord well I have learned now I pray you heal this baby and allow him to continue his miraculous journey teaching us about you here on earth Amen

I am only one of thousands that is praying for Luke and you guys daily. My tears and heart are with you daily also. The Sexton-3 Blog reminds me of our Sunday School lesson a couple of weeks ago where the purpose of the lesson was to consider ways in which believers encourage one another in their commitment to God. Paul was always encouraging the Christians to stay strong with their faith in God even though he was going thru much trials and distress. Like Paul, The Sexton-3 have stayed strong and have witnessed to and encouraged thousands and thousands to pray and have faith.
God is the most ultimate healer and we pray now that he continues to lay his healing hands on little Luke and give him yet another miracle.
We love you and if we can do anything at all, please just let us know.
    Wanda

  24. As I read your words of Luke and God it moves me in ways I've not been moved for some time. Although a christian for many years I have drifted away from my relationship with Him. Just 2 days ago I was confronted by my best friend about how I need to give my life back to God and stop running. Luke 1:37 is spreading on facebook like nothing I have seen before. Out of curiosity I decide to log on and see what is so wrong yet so right with this baby named Luke. I cannot express to you how moved and touched I am with the faith you have. Luke is so blessed to have such loving parents and family. As I prepare to get on my knees and pray for your baby I will be seeking the Lord daily in my own life. May the Lord Bless you and keep you with Him always. Thank you for sharing so much with so many people.
